Ramina and Neville’s wedding at the Kilili Baharini resort in Malindi, Kenya might top our list of favorite destination weddings!

FROM THE BRIDE:

HOW/WHEN/WHERE DID YOU FIRST MEET?

Our story began in 2012, in sunny and sandy Dubai. I was working in the hotel reception and Neville used to come for meetings with guests there. At that time we were only arguing about guest rooms....after some time we met watching the euro football final game and supporting totally different teams....that evening Neville was a smooth operator and convinced me that he needed my number!

HOW/WHEN/WHERE DID THE PROPOSAL HAPPEN?

3 beautiful years together, traveling around various parts of the world and reaching the top of snowy Swiss mountains with an amazing incredible view, where Neville proposed, and Yes was my reply!

WHAT WAS THE VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING, THE STYLE/COLOR/SCHEME?

We wanted to have a simple "Down to the Earth" wedding on the beach, bright summer colors, and a rustic, natural setup. Together with families and friends we were choosing all the pretty small things and decorations and brought them from different parts of the world. That was amazing how the ideas and small pictures came into a dream wedding setup. All were made with so much love.

HOW MANY GUESTS?

The number of guests was changing till the last day. We had a couple of very nice last-minute additions. In the end, there were around 70 guests from 26 countries. Just awesome!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING VENUE?

We checked around 25 resorts, we were looking for a small cozy boutique hotel to have some privacy and Kilili Baharini was definitely the winner. We are so happy we found this wonderful place. The hotel team was so helpful and friendly, they did an amazing job for our wedding!

DESCRIBE THE CEREMONY, AND WHAT MADE IT UNIQUE/SPECIAL:

Wow....that moment, walking down the aisle and listening to the drummer's tunes, looking at my amazing groom, and having so many happy people with us. It was so much love and happiness in the air! The fresh sea breeze and the sand under the toes isn't it a dream!

DESCRIBE THE RECEPTION, WHAT MADE IT UNIQUE/SPECIAL

After the ceremony we had a small cocktail, the guests were signing the guest book and took lots of pictures under the tunes of the amazing singer Olivia, who kindly agreed to perform at our wedding.

DESCRIBE THE FLOWERS USED FOR FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS:

As Kenya has the best choice of flowers, we had plenty of roses, spray roses, and alstroemerias. We wanted to have bright summer colors, mainly orange and fuchsia, the colors of Africa.

WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR YOUR WEDDING CAKE?

We wanted to have a rustic, simple, and naked cake decorated with flowers. When we had cake tasting, we couldn't choose between chocolate or lemon, so we put them together and it was delicious :)

DESCRIBE THE FAVORS FOR GUESTS:

We got Russian dolls for guests with name tags. During the ceremony, guests got very nice raffia fans made from the local market.

PLEASE LIST DESIGNERS FOR YOUR WEDDING DRESS, SHOES, VEIL, AND JEWELLERY:

I got my Cymbeline dress in Vienna, Austria from Cinderella Brautmoden Salon. That was the first dress I liked after visiting 5 salons and I wanted to be in it! Just amazing for the beach, simple, and exactly what I was looking for. I didn't have shoes as I wanted to be barefoot and feel the sand under the toes, so I had wonderful hand-made crochet barefoot sandals I got from Canada. Got my earrings from lovely Swarovski.

PLEASE LIST DESIGNERS FOR BRIDESMAID'S DRESSES:

The girls ordered dresses from "OKdress", UK. That was a great idea as they all are leaving in different countries - UAE, Denmark, India... They chose light watermelon color dresses, long and short, perfect for a summer beach wedding.

PLEASE LIST YOUR WEDDING VENDORS:

All the preparations were hand-made or DIY, we did it all together with families and friends. The flowers were organized by Neville's Mum Terina, brought from Nairobi, and set up by Janet (flower shop in Malindi). My Mum draws amazing trees for the guest's fingerprints and brought Russian dolls from Russia. Most of the decorations were made on the local market from organic materials like raffia, brown recycled paper, and jute... We printed our invitations in Russia as well. The paper honeycombs were brought from Austria. We found beautiful Olivia, who was singing at the cocktail, and great DJ Dulla, who was leading the dance pole tunes. We found the drummers at Che Chale.

FEW WORDS ABOUT THE BRIDE AND GROOM EXPERIENCE:

It was amazing how smooth and just wonderful everything went. This was the most amazing day we ever had, we can't stop watching the pictures and living it again! It couldn't be better, just was too short.:)

FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE, WHAT ADVICE OR TIPS WOULD YOU SHARE WITH OTHER COUPLES?

Everything will be amazing, the best way it can be! Enjoy-enjoy and again enjoy every single minute of that day because it passes by so quickly.

WHAT DO YOU THINK COUPLES WILL GET OUT OF THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH JAFASSAM PHOTOGRAPHY?

We are so lucky and so happy that we found Lola. She is very attentive, professional, very easy-going, friendly, kind, and creative. Lola followed us with our wishes and gave her ideas. Before the wedding day, Lola gave lots of useful advice and guidelines, she always stayed super positive and created a warm atmosphere. She did everything so easy for us. It was a big pleasure for us and our guests to work with her. We totally relied on her and the result was just awesome!
